The Scribes Journal of Legal Writing (03/2023 Update DRAFT)
About the Scribes Journal
The Scribes Journal of Legal Writing has long been a leading voice on matters of legal writing and style. The Journal has been cited in dozens of court opinions and in more than 900 articles and commentaries. The Journal has even found its way onto the pages of The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and Forbes.
The Journal was founded more than three decades ago by longtime Scribes board member Bryan A. Garner, America’s preeminent usage expert, lexicographer, and commentator on legal style.
The Journal’s editor-in-chief, Professor Megan E. Boyd, and her editorial staff work tirelessly to curate and publish fresh, informative articles on all things legal writing, with a purposely eclectic bent.
Besides works by luminaries of the academic world and practicing bar, the Journal has published pieces by many judges and other prominent public figures. The Journal has also published interviews with eight U.S. Supreme Court justices and five U.S. Court of Appeals judges. To submit an article for consideration, please email it directly to Professor Boyd at firstname.lastname@example.org. For additional submission guidelines, please click here.
